Mane didn’t win Ballon d’Or because he from Africa

It was possible for Sadio Mane to win Ballon d’Or if he was Brazilian or European, according to his colleague in Senegal national team, Cheikhou Kouyate.

Mane was fourth at final rankings with 347 votes from a group of international soccer journalists, behind the winner Messi (686 votes), and his colleague in Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk (679), and Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus forward (476). 

Apart from helping his team enthronement in UEFA Champions League last July, he had a big role in keeping Liverpool a competitive in Premier League until the final round last season, and achieved Premier League top scorer beside colleague Mohamed Salah.

“for me Ballon d’Or should go to Sadio Mane this year, no doubt there, if he was Brazilian or European for sure he will has it, just going back and seeing what he had done for the club and the national team, you would see there is no body better than him ”  Kouyate.

Mane also played the final match In Africa Cup of Nations, and scored three goals within five games before defeated against Algeria at the finale 0 – 1.

Kouyate added: we all know that Messi is very good and maybe the greatest, but last season Mane did amazing performance, it’s unbelievable how some people  are being judge, but it’s not fair”. George Weah the only African winner of Ballon d’Or in 1995.
