Italian midfielder Daniele De Rossi started yesterday showing up in Superliga Argentina, scoring for his new club Boca Juniors, but Diego Maradona’s former club was defeated by penalty kicks 1 – 3 (1-1), against Almagro in the 16th round of Copa Argentina.
36-year-old scored a heading, De Rossi was replaced in the 75 minutes by Colombian coach Jorman Campuzano, when it was 0 – 1.
Before the kickoff, everyone stood up for a moment of silence in honor of Jose Luis, world champion with Argentina in 1986, who died Monday at the age of 62.
De Rossi, ROMA’s former captain, signed a one-year contract with Boca Juniors.
De Rossi, world champion with Italy in 2006 has split of ROMA in May, after 18 seasons which he played 616 games, and surpassed only by former attacker Francesco Totti, who played total of 786 games.
